Types and styles of hearing aids

Just as we are all different, so are our hearing aids. This means that there are over 30 different styles and models to choose from the leading manufacturers. The hearing aids will be programmed for your specific hearing needs and will be built to fit perfectly in your ears.

The 5 most common types of hearing aids are:

Completely In the Canal (CIC)

Manufactured to the characteristics of your ear to fit deep inside your ear canal. The CIC is the smallest and least visible hearing aid. Because it is entirely inside the ear it helps reduce wind noise. CICs are suitable for mild to severe hearing losses.

In The Canal (ITC)

Placed mostly in your ear canal and is almost invisible. The ITC is slightly larger than the CIC to have more features such as wireless functionality, volume control, pushbutton etc. The ITC is suitable for mild to severe hearing losses.

In The Ear (ITE)

This model sits in your ear as well as your earcanal. Their size makes them visible compared to the smaller models, but makes them easier to handle. ITE is suitable for mild to severe hearing losses.

Mini-Behind the Ear (Mini- BTE)

Tiny hearing aids behind your ears that leave your ear canal open. They serve to reduce the feeling of having your ear blocked. Mini-BTE is suitable from mild to severe hearing losses.

Classic Behind the Ear (BTE)

These hearing aids are placed behind the ear and are coupled with an earmould from the impression of your ear. BTEs vary in size and features depending on your hearing needs and desired characteristics. They are the most powerful hearing aids and are suitable for all types of hearing losses, from mild to profound.
